Treshnish Isle of Mull Self Catering By Penmore ________________________________________________________________________
If you are looking for self catering holiday accommodation around Dervaig on the Isle of Mull and you are wanting peace and quiet and to step back into the history of the Isle of Mull then you won’t go far wrong in choosing Treshnish Farm. Situated on the North West corner of the Island the are just a short distance around the coast from the village of Dervaig. As you are driving to Treshnish you pass by the beautiful beach at Calgary with its white sands and clear waters.
If you choose to stay at Treshnish Farm in either Treshnish or a Haunn self catering cottages, the prospective guest should be aware of the difference! The two groups of self catering cottages are approximately 1 miles apart, the Treshnish cottages are close by a working farmyard which is situated just under a mile from the public road that runs from Dervaig around Calgary and eventually to Ulva Ferry and Salen. The farm self catering cottages are approached along an unmetalled farm track and each cottage is {{individually}} and {{comfortably}} furnished and, we think, full of character; with electric storage heating and double-glazing. Grassy fields lead to the shore from each cottage. You might hear a corncrake, and can watch gannets diving into the sea which stretches out in front of you to the Isle of Coll. There is a payphone and shared coin operated laundry in the farm steading. Being a stock farm, Treshnish is not a particularly 'noisy' farm unless you count cows mooing in the fields, sheep calling on the hill and chickens in the farm square as disturbing.
The extra mile out to Haunn self catering properties, through four grassy fields with gates to open and close is where you will see the difference between the two groups of properties and is a journey back in time. The sense of quiet and timelessness is breath taking and to those who understand and are comfortable with remote places. This may not suit everybody and you need to be certain that the isolation of the Haunn cottages will be comfortable for you and your family. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Haunn ('accessible wilderness') from the public road via the farm. Watch red deer graze in the fields around the cottages and yachts sail around the Point.
Treshnish Farm self catering cottages are tranquillity at its best. If you want to be surrounded by natural noise, wildlife and unrestricted walking then these self catering properties are a must for you. You will need to book early if you are to secure a booking. Previous visitors return year after year, making it difficult to get booked if you are not thinking well in advance.
